How should I use SpraySafe in my daily skincare routine?
For best results first wash and dry your skin in the area you want to treat. Then apply and allow it to dry naturally; it will take about 15 seconds for the Hypochlorous Acid to do its job. Then you can apply any other treatments you want.
Where Hypochlorous Acid Water can help in your routine;
Daily Prep - calm skin and prep it for additional products, morning & night.
Post-Workout or On-the-Go Refresh - refresh the skin and prevent breakouts.
Soothing and Reducing Redness - HOCl is naturally anti-inflammatory.
Specialist Treatment - gently disinfect and support healing.
Just a note - if the Hypochlorous Acid has not completely oxidised (dryed) and you apply a lotion with Aluminium as an ingredient there may be a colour change reaction.
What is the shelf-life of SpraySafe?
Unopened bottles
Each SpraySafe bottle displays a maximum effectiveness date on the label. For best results, we recommend opening the bottle by this date. When stored as directed (below 25°C and away from direct sunlight), the product maintains maximum effectiveness until then.
After opening
Once opened, SpraySafe should be used within 3 months to ensure optimal effectiveness. Opening the bottle exposes the solution to air and environmental conditions, which can gradually reduce the stability of hypochlorous acid (HOCl), regardless of the printed date.
Why storage and timing matter
Hypochlorous acid is a naturally occurring, highly effective molecule, but it is sensitive to heat, air, and UV exposure. Over time, particularly at temperatures above 25°C, the solution gradually neutralises as pH levels stabilise, reducing effectiveness.
SpraySafe is manufactured in small batches in New Zealand and shipped to Australia to minimise storage time prior to use and maintain product quality, without relying on increased concentrations or harsh stabilisers to compensate for degradation.
To maximise shelf life, we recommend opening only one bottle at a time and storing unopened refill bottles in a cool, dark place. Refrigeration above 0°C is ideal.
What is the PH of SpraySafe?
SpraySafe's pH level is between 5.0–6.5, making it a very weak acid.
Effectively pH neutral, however the pH in the HOCI formula is maintained to maximize its antimicrobial properties.
SpraySafe Hypochlorous Acid Water: pH 5.0–6.5
Skin: pH 5.2–5.7
NZ Drinking Water Standard: pH 7.0–8.5
Typical Swimming Pool pH: 7.2–7.8
